What we are up to in our 'Without Walls' phase
RELIGIOUS LITERACY TRAINING:
Working with Professor Adam Dinham and the Religious Literacy Partnership, Coexist House has become a global leader in Religious Literacy training. Our clients and partners include:
- EY (Ernst & Young) with whom we have recently launched a new online Religious Literacy training programme for organisations, part of EY's diversity learning scheme
- The Equality & Human Rights Commission
- The Foreign & Commonwealth Office
- A range of commercial firms and businesses
FIND US AT A FESTIVAL:
Greenbelt Festival
Coexist House is, for the first time, sponsoring an inter-faith space at the Greenbelt Festival. The Canvas tent will be a place of welcome for all in which Scriptural Reasoning with the Cambridge Inter-faith Programme features daily alongside a programme of other engaging talks, presentations and debates.
Cheltenham Literature Festival
We have supported programming on religion at the Cheltenham Literature Festival for the past five years, with sell out events and world class presenters. Look out for more great programming on religion at this year's festival...
Southbank Centre
We are working with the Southbank Centre on their Belief and Beyond Belief festival in 2017. Watch this space for more information.

ART AND EXHIBITIONS:
Botticelli at the V&A
Friends of Coexist House enjoyed a tour of the V&A's sensational Botticelli Reimagined exhibition, led by Coexist House Trustee Rev Robin Griffith Jones. The tour opened up themes of beauty and transcendence in Botticelli's art, in contrast with some of the more earthed commercial spin-offs of Botticelli's works in more recent times. British Museum education events and private viewing
Following on from two Scriptural Reasoning events which we staged for the British Museum as part of inter-faith week, Coexist House was given the opportunity to treat a group of partners and supporters to a tour of the Museum's Egypt; Faith after the Pharaohs exhibition. We were shown round by the exhibition’s curator Amandine Merat, who shared great insight and knowledge. The viewing was followed by breakfast and further conversation. |
TRAINING FOR FAITH LEADERS:
In partnership with Faith in leadership and the Cambridge Inter-faith Programme, the Senior Faith Leadership Programme deepens encounters between those who are serving the Muslim, Christian and Jewish communities in Britain, whether in a lay or clerical capacity. The leaders meet for three 48 hour residential modules over the course of a year, focusing on scriptural texts, leadership skills, and engagement with the media. With a four year track record of high quality training for a range of some of the UK's most impressive religious leaders, and an active alumni network of nearly 100, SFLP has made a significant impact on the UK inter-faith scene.
For more information, and to apply for the 2017 programme, see the SFLP website... |
RELIGION MEDIA CENTRE
Coexist House is creating The Religion Media Centre, a one stop shop for journalists to turn to when a religion story breaks. Following the success of the Science Media Centre it will be journalist-focused resource to provide background information, key facts and able contributors from across the spectrum of debate. It will have no editorial line other than “religion matters – lets get it right."
The Religion Media Centre:
· Takes a neutral approach and does not promote religion
· Has an academic foundation. It is authoritative, “neutral”, trusted, available
· Provides background research, offers shortcuts to a deeper understanding
· Gives journalists the information they need in formats they can use
· Provides a wide range of vetted contributors to represent all views
· Offers advice to screenwriters/directors in dramas, docs and soaps
· Provides training for journalists and the religious communities
· Becomes self sustaining after five years of start-up funding
· Is supported by a variety of funders – so no one source has editorial sway
